Montessori Language Arts is one of the most important academic subjects in this wonderful philosophy.

Learning vocabulary words is a key component to success and the use of manipulative such as 3-part cards can be extremely helpful.

Here are some ideas on how to use animals, numbers, and more to teach these essential words.

One way to introduce sight words is by using Montessori 3-part cards.

These have the word on one side and a picture on the other.

The picture can be an animal, object, or anything else that will help your child remember the word.

Start with a few words and gradually add more as your child masters each one.

You can also use Montessori animals to help teach sight words.

Show your child a picture of an animal and say the name of the animal along with the word.

For example, you could say, “This is a cat. The word ‘cat’ starts with the letter ‘c’.”

This will help your child make the connection between the word and the object.

Finally, numbers can also be used to teach sight words.

Write out each word on a separate index card and then number them.

Start with 1 and move up as your child masters each word.

Help them keep track of their progress and feel proud of their accomplishments.

By using animals, numbers, 3-part cards, and other manipulative, you can help your child learn these essential words.
