Montessori Circle Time

Curriculum, Montessori at Home, Montessori Child, Planning, Toddler

Spread the love

In the post, we will be going a little in depth on what Montessori Circle Time is, the benefits and ideas.

Montessori Circle Time is a key component of The Montessori Method.

You can implement it when you are doing Montessori at home or at a Montessori school.

It is a time for children to come together as a community and learn social skills such as cooperation and communication.

Circle time can be used to introduce new concepts, review material, or simply provide a time for children to interact with each other.

Many Montessori teachers love it because it is the perfect time for group lessons, like explaining a Science experiment or a class project.

The activities during circle time are designed to be interactive and engaging, so that children can learn while having fun.

In the post, we will be going a little in depth on what Montessori Circle Time is, the benefits and ideas.

What is Circle Time in Montessori?

Circle time in Montessori is a time for children to come together in the Montessori classroom.

It is a widely-accepted practice in the Montessori community because of its many benefits.

It can be part of the Montessori curriculum, especially if you have many extroverted children that need socialization.

But if you don’t, then you still might find that introverted children will benefit from the experience.

It can help them “come out of their shell” as you encourage them to participate in Circle Time.

The activities during this time are designed to be interactive and engaging, so that children can learn while having fun.

Some of the activities that might be included are singing songs, sharing stories, and playing games.

Circle time is an important part of the Montessori day and it helps children to feel connected to their classmates and to the school community.

In the post, we will be going a little in depth on what Montessori Circle Time is, the benefits and ideas.

I go a lot more in depth on this inside The Montessori Way Foundations Framework, which is my 6-month program for those who desire to lay down a firm foundation in The Montessori Philosophy.

I also include an entire bundle of printable activities exclusively for Circle Time for free.

But for now, I will share with you what I can.

You can hold Circle Time once a day or more, if you prefer.

A lot of it depends on whether you have a lot of young children or if you have older children.

Another thing that will help you decide is the complexity of the material that they are covering at the time.

Some Montessori activities call for more repetition and more attention to detail, so morning Circle Time is the perfect time for this.

Montessori Circle Time Ideas

There are many different Montessori Circle Time activities and ideas that you can use to engage and educate your students.

Like I said before, some of the activities that might be included are singing songs, sharing stories, and playing games.

You can also learn the days of the week, have calendar time and even have a circle time game.

Have a dedicated Circle Time song that alerts children that it is starting and/or ending.

You can also use Montessori Circle Time to teach children about topics such as colors, shapes, and numbers.

It is a great way to create a sense of community in the classroom.

It helps children to learn important social skills.
