Montessori Practical Life

This subject is an excellent way to introduce acts of service.

The idea is that children learn best by doing, and in the case of acts of service, it’s about finding ways to help others in need.

One way to get started is by teaching your child how to perform acts of service around the house.

This can be things like dusting, sweeping, setting the table, or folding laundry.

Not only will this help out you as the parent, but it will also give your child a sense of responsibility and ownership in the home.

Another great way to get your child involved in acts of service is by involving them in meal preparation.

This could be anything from helping to chop vegetables, to setting the table, to even washing dishes.

Not only will this teach your child valuable life skills, but it will also help instill a sense of empathy as they see firsthand how their efforts can positively impact others.

Acts of Service the Montessori Way

When it comes to acts of service, the Montessori method is all about finding ways to help others in need.

One great way to get your child started with acts of service is by teaching them the grace and courtesy lesson “I Can Help.”

This lesson helps children understand that they are capable of helping around the house.

It also instills a sense of responsibility.

Another fantastic way to get your child involved in acts of service is through volunteering.

There are many opportunities for volunteering, whether it be at a local soup kitchen or animal shelter.

Not only will this be a great bonding experience for you and your child, but it will also teach them the importance of helping others.

No matter what you decide to do, remember that acts of service are all about giving back to others.

They are a great way to teach your children the value of generosity and compassion.

Involving your children in doing things for others is important.

You are sure to create lasting memories and instill important values that will stay with them for a lifetime.

Montessori Grace and Courtesy

One of the most important aspects of acts of service is grace and courtesy.

This refers to the etiquette and manners that we use when interacting with others.

Teaching your children grace and courtesy is a great way to prepare them for serving others.

Teaching them how to properly interact with others.

You are setting them up for success when it comes time to volunteer or help out around the house.

There are many different ways to teach grace and courtesy.

You may want to start by teaching your child how to say please and thank you.

From there, you can move on to more complex lessons such as table manners and conflict resolution.
