to get into our lesson, our topic today. Today's topic is teaching sight words the Montessori way

What are sight words? Sight words are the sets of words that children must learn to recognize

at first glance. Another name for sight words is high frequency words. So you can hear one term or

the other, they mean the same thing. According to the Montessori method, teaching side words is an

important part of literacy. Now, we don't depend 100% on that, but it is an important part. This

Let's discuss that. What is different about it? The Montessori method is a child-centered

hands-on approach to learning rather than lecturing or drilling children on sight words

Consider the Montessori method. It encourages children to explore and discover new information

at their own pace, at their own level. This type of independent exploration has been proven to be

So let's go to point number one for today's lesson. Side words are the cornerstone of helping young children learn to read

The Montessori approach is based on the idea that a child should be able to learn from their environment

One of the most popular Montessori techniques for teaching sight words is using flashcards

By presenting a word written on a card, then having a child read it out loud or act out what it means, children can quickly learn and remember new words

method. First step in teaching side words using the Montessori method is to introduce the words

You introduce one or two words at a time. You can use flashcards, like I said before

it. You can also use small objects. You can use drawings or other visuals to help children remember

and recognize each word. Once children understand the meaning and the spelling of the words

Remember, sensitive periods are very, very important to pay attention to. Provide a variety of activities
